Flower Yarn Art

Talk about big needlework! I can’t imagine how hard this was to work on, it is so big at 32″ by 39″. It takes up a big chunk of wallspace, but I really like the colors and the flower shapes and at only 25 cents, I really could not pass this up. I’m thinking my husband wishes I would of.

I entered this pillow into an online contest for the show Top Design on Bravo. I made the pillow from a vintage paint by numbers painting I bought for a dollar at the flea market. Just ripped the painting off of the canvas board, varnished it, and added some fabrics and bobblies. I won nothing.

Or at least I think it is a weasel. Felt teeth and all. Vintage and made out of mohair. No clue who manufactured it.

From Associated Press – India farmer has cow that eats chickens

Mar 08 2007 Published by Trina under LittleWaif's world

I kid you not. Even better than the story about the pelican that eats pigeons.

When his chickens started disappearing a few weeks ago, a farmer in eastern India figured dogs or jackals were to blame — until he discovered his calf making a meal of his poultry.Moloy, who uses only one name, and his 1-year-old calf have since become local celebrities, with the carnivorous cow appearing on television in India’s West Bengal state and hundreds of people flocking to see them in Chandipur, a village 145 miles southwest of Calcutta, the state capital.”To catch the culprit, Moloy got up very early … and to his disbelief found that it was his calf which came out from the cow shed and was eating the chickens alive,” Debjyoti Chatterjee, a local resident who filmed the calf eating a chicken, said Thursday.

The local veterinarian was at a loss for an explanation.

“I’ve never read or heard about cows turning carnivorous,” said Mihir Tripathy. “They eat grass and other vegetarian food but not fish or other non-vegetarian stuff.”

She looks so contemplative in this photo, but I really know what is going on in her brain. I have never had a cat who is so needy for attention and soooooo jealous when our other cat gets any attention. She is a climber. She will climb up as high as she can on whatever she can so that you will notice her.

been a bit lazy…

Mar 07 2007 Published by Trina under LittleWaif's world

about updating my site. Not that I haven’t done a bunch of stuff lately, it is just that somewhere along the line– photographing, uploading, editing photos, writing — things just seem to get stuck.

Lately I have been crocheting blankets, sketching, some sewing, and learning movie editing software. Who would have thought there were so many steps between vcr tape to a somewhat edited dvd. Either that or I took a couple of wrong turns somewhere. I did take a couple of film classes in college that did help somewhat. In college, I really enjoyed the editing process of filmmaking. Taking a giant pile of film and putting it together in a way that gets your idea across is actually rather fun.

Here is one of the great mysteries of life for me. Why is it that the best drawings one does are always drawn on a picked up discarded piece of paper and not on fancy drawing paper or on a canvas?
